Building useful products. Thinking beyond the code.
I build software across web, mobile, backend and cloud, with a focus on understanding the problem behind the code and creating products that genuinely work for the people using them.

ENGINEERING
Good engineering starts before code.
I’m a full-stack engineer who enjoys working across the whole product — from the experience in the browser or app through APIs, backend services, data and cloud. I’ve worked across different languages, frameworks and domains, and I’m comfortable learning what I need to solve the problem well. What matters most to me is understanding what we’re building, working closely with the team and making thoughtful technical decisions that lead to useful, reliable products.

◌Clarity over complexitySimple solutions that are easy to understand and evolve.
✦Quality that lastsCode, tests and infrastructure with the long term in mind.
A fictional product study exploring how operational data can become a clear experience: useful hierarchy, accessible states and enough information to make the next decision without overwhelming the person using it.

Reliable systems
I like working across APIs, background workers, databases and cloud infrastructure — including the retries and failure states that make software trustworthy.

End-to-end thinking
I like understanding how frontend, backend, data and infrastructure fit together so I can make better decisions and deliver features that work reliably in production.
“I enjoy the mix of technical problem solving, product thinking and working with people. It’s what makes engineering so rewarding for me.”

REFLECTING & GROWING
Progress over perfection
I like to take time to reflect on what’s going well, what’s challenging and what I want to learn next. Engineering is a long game, and I’m focused on building a career that keeps getting more interesting.
I retrained at Northcoders in 2022 and have since built products across EPOS, fintech and energy. Each move has broadened the stack, the product context and the responsibility I’m ready to take on.

SPEAKING
Sharing ideas, not just shipping them.
I speak about software engineering, AI, learning and the human side of building technology. Speaking has pushed me to explain technical ideas clearly, challenge my own thinking and become more confident influencing a room — skills I want to keep developing as I grow towards technical leadership.

MUSIC · PERFORMANCE · CREATIVITY
Music came first. Curiosity stayed.
Music has been part of my life for much longer than software. I went to drama school when I was younger and have always been drawn to performing, singing and being part of something creative. These days I sing with Manchester Proud Chorus and Crystal Chords, but music has followed me through rehearsals, microphones, bands and plenty of stages in between.
Finding my voice — literally and otherwise.Software came later. Curiosity didn’t.
It probably explains some of the things I value at work too: listening properly, finding confidence without needing to be the loudest voice, practising until something clicks, and understanding that your individual part only works when it fits with everyone else’s.
